Ce modèle fut la première version de la chaise pensée par René Gabriel pour faire partie du “mobilier des sinistrés”. Sa fabrication en caillebotis se révélant particulièrement fastidieuse à fabriquer dans le contexte d’urgence de l’époque, l’assise en caillebotis fut rapidement abandonnée pour être remplacée par la version à lattes, bien plus simple à fabriquer par les ébenistes mandatés. Voilà pourquoi il est si difficile aujourd’hui de trouver ces versions aussi rares qu’élégantes...
Bon état pour leur âge, bonne stabilité de la structure. Très belle patine du temps.

Rare set of three René Gabriel 103 slatted chairs in solid beech, from the 1940s.
This model was the first version of the chair designed by René Gabriel to form part of the “flood victims’ furniture” scheme. As the slatted construction proved particularly time-consuming to produce in the emergency context of the time, the slatted seat was quickly abandoned and replaced by the slatted version, which was much simpler for the commissioned cabinetmakers to produce. This is why it is so difficult today to find these versions, which are as rare as they are elegant...
In good condition for their age, with a structurally sound frame. Beautiful patina of age.

The royal blue velvet seat cover is not the original. We can refurbish the seat with straw padding identical to the original model, or in a fabric of your choice, subject to a quote.
The pair is in excellent condition, with a perfectly stable frame, very few signs of wear and a beautiful patina on the wood.

Carved from a single piece of wood with a gouge, this sturdy stool with a surprisingly comfortable seat has an exceptional patina. This piece of folk art is of high technical and artistic quality.
Made of oak, it is as heavy as it is sturdy. Years of use, probably for milking, have given it a superb patina. The seat is sculpted to ergonomically fit the user's buttocks. The legs, perfectly fixed and stable, are ideally proportioned.
This is a small masterpiece of folk craftsmanship, comparable to the great names of the genre.
