Ce petit pichet en céramique aux courbes organiques très douces, a de faux-airs de coquillage. Superbement proportionné, il présente une belle robe blanche satinée, et son intérieur émaillé d’un orange vif apporte un contraste très graphique. Signature de l’artiste sur la base (inconnu-e).

This small ceramic jug has soft, organic curves and looks like a shell. Superbly proportioned, it has a beautiful, slightly faded white colour, and its bright orange glazed interior provides a highly graphic contrast. Perhaps the fruit of a Mediterranean imagination, near Vallauris? The signature on the bottom is unknown to me... A very fine piece of work by a French ceramist.
Place it on a sideboard, console or bookcase to enjoy its sculpture, or use it every summer's day for orangeades.

Grande coupe ou corbeille à fruits en céramique tressée et émaillée rouge "sang de bœuf" de Jérôme Massier, années 50/60. La magnifique couleur de l'émail d'un rouge bordeaux profond, la technicité du tressage de la céramique en font une pièce remarquable et très graphique.
La signature incrustée au tampon sur le socle est majoritairement illisible car mal centrée, mais on voit une partie du "Jérôme Massier Vallauris" qui est traditionnellement inscrit sur les créations du céramiste.

Large woven and glazed red ‘sang de bœuf’ ceramic fruit bowl or basket by Jérôme Massier, 1950s/60s. The magnificent deep burgundy-red glaze and the technical nature of the ceramic weaving make this a remarkable, highly graphic piece.
The signature inlaid with a stamp on the base is mostly illegible because it is not centred, but part of the ‘Jérôme Massier Vallauris’ that is traditionally inscribed on the ceramist's creations can be seen.
